Keywords in Portuguese
Forma literária
O sol na cabeça
Processo social
Reza de mãe
Torto arado

Abstract in English
The work proposes an investigation into the representation of poverty in three prose narratives of contemporary Brazilian literature, the short story collections Reza de Mãe (2016), by Allan da Rosa, O sol na cabeça (2018), by Geovani Martins, and the novel Torto arado (2019), by Itamar Vieira Junior. The literary analysis, based on close reading of the works, seeks to reflect on the technical procedures and social problematizations configured by the narrated matter, as well as their contradictions. The hypothesis is that, in the selected narratives, realistic themes and procedures, which led to the formation of our national literature, even though with important ruptures, never ceased to shape the representation of the reality of subaltern social classes. This way of apprehending reality, however, may mean the reflection of the broader social process: the historical rooting in literary forms of the lack of perspective of the secular emancipation of the poor, especially black, population.
