No contexto da literatura portuguesa contemporânea, o livro O senhor Eliot e as conferências assume papel emblemático para aprofundar o olhar sobre a obra de Gonçalo M. Tavares. Para esta pesquisa, tomamos como central a estratégia da escrita deformadora, a qual propomos como jogo representativo de seu processo criativo. Nesse percurso, são aproximados da produção tavariana outros autores, como T. S. Eliot e Roland Barthes, cujas reflexões críticas e procedimentais se fazem perceber e ampliam as possibilidades interpretativas na obra do autor português. Entretanto, procura-se extrapolar tais procedimentos e suscitar, ao fim, reflexão mais ampla e perscrutada do corpus, com o intuito de contemplar tanto o seu potencial interno de formulação crítica quanto as implicações das escolhas que formam o conjunto de textos aventados para as conferências do senhor Eliot. Dessa forma, pretendemos dialogar com a noção de cânone e a revisitação dos clássicos movimentada pela leitura da obra tavariana, evidenciando o potencial de reflexão do mecanismo de curadoria desempenhado pelo autor e pelo protagonista da obra

In the context of contemporary Portuguese literature, the book O Senhor Eliot e as conferências is emblematic to deepen the reading on the work of Gonçalo M. Tavares. For the research, the deforming writing strategy is taken as central, which we propose as a representative trick of his creative process. Other authors are mobilized to analyze Tavaress production, such as T. S. Eliot and Roland Barthes, whose critical and procedural reflections are perceived and expand the interpretative possibilities in the work of the Portuguese author. However, an attempt is made to extrapolate such procedures and, in the end, to provoke a broader and more scrutinized reflection of the corpus, in order to contemplate both its internal potential for critical formulation, and the instructions for the choices that form the set of texts suggested for the conferences of Senhor Eliot. In this way, we intend to dialogue with the notion of canon and to revisit the classics moved by the reading of the Tavares`s work, as well as the full potential of reflection on the curatorship mechanism executed by the author and the protagonist of the work
