Esta dissertação apresenta uma leitura da obra Eliete, a Vida Normal, de Dulce Maria Cardoso, especulando a força da memória na escrita pelo monólogo da narradora, em primeira pessoa, para observar a construção da identidade feminina em uma sociedade patriarcal e a busca por sua emancipação. A protagonista, Eliete, casada há vinte anos, narra suas memórias entrecortadas por pensamentos, ideias e diálogos com outras mulheres, dentre as quais sua avó paterna, sua mãe e suas duas filhas, além de alguns homens. O pano de fundo da ficção é a história de Portugal, país europeu periférico com contradições, arcaico e moderno, nos séculos XX e XXI. Nesta análise da obra de ficção de autoria feminina contemporânea, foram usados quatro eixos: a história de Portugal e a memória como pano de fundo da elaboração da escrita; o sentido e o significado da história e da ficção na construção da linguagem literária e do inconsciente coletivo; a busca de uma identidade perdida e a necessidade de criar identidade pela qual o sujeito se constitui e se transforma; e a fragmentação das relações sociais e familiares. Por meio destas abordagens, procuramos apontar e explicar os mecanismos estruturais da sociedade patriarcal e colonialista, pelos quais a vida das mulheres é atravessada por violências e exigências desde a infância, passando pela ditadura da beleza do corpo, com imposição de uma estética de magreza, e a colonização da mente, com a introjeção de valores ditados pelo sistema neoliberal. O objetivo principal deste trabalho foi analisar o romance Eliete, a Vida Normal, sob perspectivas históricas, literárias e psicanalíticas, buscando interpretar as passagens da narrativa para desvendar a representação do mundo narrado pela protagonista. A solidão e a incomunicabilidade da protagonista, Eliete, assim como a alternativa de adultério, diante da monotonia e do tédio do seu casamento de mais de vinte anos, associadas à busca de identidade da mulher portuguesa, na sociedade patriarcal e colonialista do século XX, marcada pela ditadura militar (1926-1933) e pelo Estado Novo de Salazar (1933-1974), foram alguns dos dilemas apresentados. Ouvimos questionamentos sobre o sujeito do desejo, a sexualidade, o corpo feminino, o trabalho, os relacionamentos afetivos e sexuais, a maternidade, o casamento, a fidelidade, o aprisionamento e a emancipação das mulheres, assim como a competição, a inveja, a aliança, a solidariedade entre as mulheres (sororidade) ou a sua falta

This dissertation presents an analysis of the work Eliete, a Vida Normal by Dulce Maria Cardoso, speculating on the power of memory in writing through the monologue of the firstperson narrator, to observes the construction of female identity in a patriarchal society and the pursuit of emancipation. The protagonist, Eliete, who has been married for twenty years, narrates her memories interspersed by thoughts, ideas, and dialogues with other women, including her paternal grandmother, her mother, and her two daughters, as well as some men. The backdrop of the fiction is the history of Portugal, a peripheral European country with contradictions, both archaic and modern, in the 20th and 21st centuries. In this analysis of contemporary female-authored fiction, four main axes were used: the history of Portugal and memory as a background for writing; the sense and meaning of history and fiction in the construction of literary language and the collective unconscious; the search for a lost identity and the need to create identity through which the subject is constituted and transformed; and the fragmentation of social and family relationships. Through these approaches, we aim to point out and to explain the structural mechanisms of the patriarchal and colonialist society through which women's lives are permeated by violence and demands from childhood, through the dictatorship of body beauty with the imposition of a thin aesthetic, and the colonization of the mind with the internalization of values dictated by the neoliberal system. The main objective of this work was to analyze the novel Eliete, a Vida Normal, from historical, literary and psychoanalytic perspectives, seeking to interpret the passages of the narrative to unveil the representation of the world narrated by the protagonist. The loneliness and the lack of communication of the protagonist, Eliete, as well as the option of adultery in the face of the monotony and boredom of her marriage of over twenty years, associated with the search for identity of Portuguese women in the patriarchal and colonialist society of the 20th century, marked by the military dictatorship (1926-1933) and the Estado Novo of Salazar (1933-1974), are some of the dilemmas presented. We hear questions about the subject of desire, sexuality, the female body, work, emotional and sexual relationships, motherhood, marriage, fidelity, imprisonment, and women's emancipation, as well as competition, envy, alliance, solidarity among women (sorority), or its absence
