Performatividade
Resistência

Abstract in English
Maria Velho da Costa's work changed throughout the 40 years of publications, between novels, short stories, plays and screenplays. In this thesis, three books were chosen in an attempt to understand how the literary corpus resistance to conform to a static categorization works in consonance with its themes, narratives, and characters to achieve a queerization of her work. For that, Maina Mendes (1969), Lúcialima (1983) and Myra (2008) were the basis to comprehend, respectively, the materialization of gender norms, the fragmentation of the novel form and the fluidity created by intertextuality. In order to analyze the ways in which these points are engendered in the work of the Portuguese author, literary theorists such as Roland Barthes, Mikhail Bakhtin, Graham Allen, Andreas Huyssen, Elaine Showalter were used; alongside philosophical theories and gender studies by Julia Kristeva, Michel Foucault, Teresa de Lauretis, Gayle Rubin and, as a core to the analysis, Judith Butler.
