Esta tese se constitui em uma proposta de estudo da internacionalização da literatura brasileira neste início de século. Em uma primeira etapa, cumpriu o seguinte itinerário: delineamento da evolução dos estudos em torno do que se convencionou chamar "literatura mundial"; levantamento dos empecilhos que, ontem e hoje, dificultam a circulação internacional da literatura brasileira; avaliação de seu grau atual de autonomização e dos investimentos em sua exportação neste período - que coincidiram com uma maior abertura ao outro nos estudos literários. Em um segundo momento, empreendeu-se um estudo de caso sobre a recepção de obras brasileiras vencedoras do prêmio Portugal Telecom/Oceanos traduzidas na França, Reino Unido e Estados Unidos. Foi então que "romance" tomou o lugar de "literatura" no título deste trabalho, pois nenhum dos poetas ou contistas premiados foi traduzido nesses espaços. Corpus constituído, avançou-se para uma investigação sobre o prestígio das mãos (das editoras, tradutores, críticos...) que apresentaram essas obras nesses campos de chegada. Isso incluiu o levantamento e análise dos textos críticos publicados sobre esses lançamentos em jornais, revistas, sites e blogs desses países. Tal leitura permitiu avaliar o que era posto em relevo pelos críticos literários estrangeiros diante das obras brasileiras em questão. Com essa trajetória, esta tese espera contribuir não só para a atualização do estado de coisas nesse campo, como também para uma reflexão crítica sobre as relações desiguais dentro da "República Mundial das Letras" e o lugar da literatura brasileira.

This thesis constitutes a proposal to study the internationalization of Brazilian literature at the beginning of this century. In a first stage, it carried out the following itinerary: outlining the evolution of studies around what is conventionally called "world literature"; survey of the obstacles that, yesterday and today, hinder the international circulation of Brazilian literature; assessment of its current degree of autonomy and investments in its exportation in this period - which coincided with a greater openness to the other in literary studies. In a second moment, a case study was undertaken on the reception of Brazilian works that won the Portugal Telecom/Oceanos prize translated in France, the United Kingdom and the United States. It was then that "novel" took the place of "literature" in the title of this work, as none of the awarded poets or short story writers was translated in these spaces. With the corpus constituted, this work moved forward to an investigation into the prestige of the hands (of publishers, translators, critics...) that presented the novels in those fields of arrival. This included a survey and analysis of critical texts published about these launches in newspapers, magazines, websites and blogs in these countries. Such a reading made it possible to assess what was highlighted by foreign literary critics in the face of the Brazilian works in question. With this trajectory, this thesis hopes to contribute not only to updating the state of affairs in this field, but also to a critical reflection on the unequal relations within the "World Republic of Letters" and the place of Brazilian literature.
