Esta dissertação se concentra em dois pontos principais. O primeiro, apresentado no capítulo inaugural, se debruça em entender uma circulação mais da obra de Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) no Brasil. Partindo da definição das considerações de "clássico" feitas por Ítalo Calvino, foi feito um extenso levantamento desta circulação, indo desde o arquivo histórico do jornal Folha de São Paulo - um dos principais jornais em circulação do país com maior número de tiragens - até outras mídias como HQ's, videogame e live action, além de tratarmos das edições e reedições da obra. Esse caminho se torna fundamental para adentrarmos na segunda parte do trabalho, que quer traz uma discussão tradutória mais pontual sobre o elemento do fogo no Purgatório a partir de três edições específicas. O objetivo desse trabalho, portanto, é refletir sobre a presença de Dante e sua circulação no Brasil e a análise de como três tradutores - Cristiano Martins, Xavier Pinheiro e Ítalo Eugênio Mauro - lidaram com três cantos do Purgatório, o XXIV, XXV e o XXVI.

This dissertation focuses in two main parts. The first, presented in the first chapter, tries to understand the circulation of the italian poet, Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) work in Brazil. For that, we carried out a survey on Dante Alighieri, taking into account the definition of classic used by Ítalo Calvino. We also did a survey in Folha de São Paulo, which is the most popular newspaper of the country and presents the largest print run. We also presented different mídia, like comics, videogames and live-action without forgeting to talk about the Editions and reissues. This path becomes fundamental to us enter in the second part of this dissertation which is presented in the second chapter: The fire of Purgatory, presented in the Divine Comedy, book by Dante Alighiery. The purpose of this dissertation is to bring some reflections about the role Dante has in Brazil and the circulation of his work and to analize three translators - Cristiano Martins, Xavier Pinheiro and Ítalo Eugênio Mauro- dealt with canto XXIV, canto XXV and canto XXVI - all from Purgatory. It is centrally in this parts that Dante experiences fire in complex and different ways, helping to form not only the image off fire in these parts but also shaping the vision we have until today in our society.
