Diversa entonação: a voz em Jorge Luis Borges

Voz

Abstract in English
On many occasions, from his youth to the end of his life, Jorge Luis Borges resorted to the word "voice" to think about his writing and the writing of other authors. At the same time, throughout these decades, Borges engaged intensively in oral genres (such as lectures, conferences, and interviews) in which the enunciation involves a performance. The voice, therefore, seems fundamental to Borges not only as the "voice of writing" or "literary voice," but also as a vehicle for the construction of an author figure. Considering voice in these two senses, this dissertation looks not only at texts in which Borges reflected on the question of voice in literature, but also at his interviews and conferences to see how the author constructed a public figure in these genres generally considered secondary. The intention is to show how Borges' literary voice relates to the voice projected in the public space and how his work, through these two "voices," became inseparable from his figure as an author
