Metapoesia

Abstract in English
Throughout the poetic anthology of João Cabral de Melo Neto, metapoetry is recurrent and express an emphasis and reflection on the elements of the lyrical universe (the poet, the poem and poetry) and a careful treatment of the poetic contents, explained by the poet, and whose base give material to collect certain isotopies that, in metapoetry, lead the reader to an understanding of which poetic characteristics are dysphoric and must be transformed or discarded and which are euphoric, and therefore sought and cultivated, which are the ways of operating this targeted poetic making, the competencies involved in the process and some qualities inherent to the poet, in order to achieve the intended poetry and to fulfill certain poetic rules. These isotopies, translated by semic traces, give the directionality of the tense contents of the metapoetry of João Cabral de Melo Neto and their modes of circulation as values, demonstrating the presupposition of a series of poetic competences applied and pursued, are exemplified by the semiotic analysis of seven poems: Antiode, O Ferrageiro de Carmona, O Funcionário, Catar Feijão, Catecismo de Berceo. Retrato de Escritor and Díptico.
