Abstract in English
Alchemy was designated in the history of science as the predecessor of chemistry and its legacy was gradually being assimilated by the occult sciences. Analyzing the book The Alchemist by the brazilian author Paulo Coelho and De Occulta Philosophia by Cornelius Agrippa, offers us a new approach to the study of alchemy for the contemporary world, making it possible to better understand this traditional and complex knowledge, which has been developed since the dawn of humanity and which had its peaked during the Renaissance. The dialogue between the two books also offers us a reflection on the role of magic and natural philosophy for the development of experimental science. From the perspective of Cornelius Agrippa, we can analyze the relevance of magic and, according to the parameters of The Alchemist, we can study the paradigms on which magic and alchemy are based today, from historical perspective. For a better understanding of alchemy today, it was also necessary to include Carl Jungs studies on alchemy, since, from a psychological perspective, the alchemical opus means the improvement of the Self. From this perspective, we can understand that alchemy is a knowledge that science can still incur as a subject of study, which is why the historiography os science has currently given great relevance to the study of alchemy
