A Companhia Matte Larangeira surgiu após o Banco Rio e Matto Grosso comprar a maior parte das ações da empresa de Thomaz Larangeira, no ano de 1891, e durante seus onze anos de existência sob esta configuração jurídica ampliou sua área de exploração dos ervais nativos, teve crescimento em seus ativos anualmente e fez aquisições materiais e territoriais. Seu fim como Companhia se deu em 1902, quando a sociedade foi desfeita amigavelmente. Este é o recorte temporal em que observamos como se deram as relações entre o Estado de Mato Grosso, a Companhia Matte Larangeira e o Banco Rio e Matto Grosso, priorizando entender o acesso à terra e as relações de poder que se davam no contexto político. Para tal, nos amparamos na bibliografia pertinente e fontes originais, especialmente a hemerografia que retratava a Companhia Matte Larangeira. Utilizamos a perspectiva geográfica para analisar o território do antigo sul de Mato Grosso (estado de Mato Grosso do Sul desde 1977), uma vez que este é o espaço mais as relações de poder que se dão sobre ele; assim apresentamos por meio da historiografia como se dava o controle sobre a terra e o trabalho, abordando os sujeitos que construíram o território mato-grossense, mas que ficaram à sombra da poderosa Companhia: trabalhadores, indígenas e mulheres. O controle sobre a terra e o trabalho foi priorizado em nossa análise historiográfica sobre a Companhia Matte Larangeira, por desvelar as relações que conformam o território. Por fim, buscamos finalizar fazendo uma observação sobre os desdobramentos da Companhia Matte Larangeira no atual território de Mato Grosso do Sul

Companhia Matte Larangeira emerged after Banco Rio e Matto Grosso purchased most of the shares in the company from Thomaz Larangeira, in 1891, and during its eleven years of existence under this legal configuration it expanded its area of exploration of native herbs, had growth in its assets annually made and acquired materials and territories. Its end as a Company ocurred in 1902, when the partnership was amicably dissolved. This is the time frame in which we observe how the relations between the State of Mato Grosso, Matte Larangeira Company and Bank Rio e Matto Grosso took place, prioritizing understanding access to land and the power relations that took place in the political context. For this, we relied on the relevant bibliography and original sources, especially the hemerography that portrayed the Matte Larangeira Company. We use the geographical perspective to analyze the territory of the former south of Mato Grosso (state of Mato Grosso do Sul since 1977), since this is the space plus the power relations that take place over it; we present, through historiography, how control over land and work took place, addressing the subjects who built the territory of Mato Grosso, but who remained in the shadow of the powerful Company: workers, indigenous people and women. Control over land and work was prioritized in our historiographical analysis of Matte Larangeira Company, as it reveals the relationships that shape the territory. Finally, we seek to conclude by making an observation about the developments of Matte Larangeira Company in the current territory of Mato Grosso do Sul.
