Abstract in English
The objective of the research is to examine the theory of representation through which the English philosopher Thomas Hobbes constructs the most mature and elaborate version of his political doctrine. The Leviathan demonstration innovates and resolves certain ambiguities of previous works by using the theory of representation, support of the sovereign's supreme power; opens political science to modernity. With this fiction, the reasoning acquires a coherence that it had not yet attained in either the elements of law or De cive. What might seem insufficient in earlier works is resolved by the theory of representation. For Hobbes, representation plays a decisive role in structuring the legal world in which the State consists. Our analysis intends to go beyond the "crystallized ideas" about the political thought of the English philosopher, that is, to leave this image of Hobbes, as a defender of absolute power that, with the help of his Leviathan, for more than three centuries, has been crystallizing. Although it is a difficult and daring task, we intend to point out aspects in the Hobbesian theory of political representation for a general understanding of the notion of representation, and consequently extend it to an understanding of modern, essentially representative democracy. Despite the unshakable scepter of the Hobbesian sovereign, we believe that there is a gap for democracy in the rigid system that transfers all the powers of men to Leviathan.
