O método desenvolvido por Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) estabeleceu uma abordagem terapêutica e científico-cultural que visava descrever a essência e a dinâmica da psique, com o propósito de validade universal. O tratamento cuidadoso da imaginação e seus processos, uma de suas grandes contribuições ao pensamento psicológico, destacava o papel da imagem como meio de acesso à dimensão emocional do indivíduo, relação cujo desvelamento se constituiria como elemento nevrálgico e indispensável do trabalho analítico. A longevidade no interesse por esta perspectiva demonstra o valor de se investigar suas inovações em comparação às demais psicologias do inconsciente, tendo neste sentido, seu diferencial mais relevante reconhecido sobretudo no modo como pratica a escuta do sujeito em análise. Em uma investigação ainda em curso na prática clínica, repousa aí sua pertinência na contemporaneidade, tanto mais pelo estreito elo com a fenomenologia, inserindo-a em um crescente movimento de fundamentação e reconhecimento científicos. A psicologia arquetípica, leitura pós-junguiana que se mantém fiel aos pressupostos de uma psicologia da imagem, tem na obra de James Hillman (1926-2011) uma de suas maiores representações. A ênfase nesta terapia focada na imagem, tributária da visão junguiana de se manter atado a ela, permitiu o refinamento de uma análise psicológica cujo cerne repousa no entendimento das imagens do inconsciente. O objetivo desta pesquisa é identificar e compreender, no arco temporal da década de 1970 da produção da obra hillmaniana, o que comparece como momentos passíveis de serem designados e descritos como a experiência desta escuta, aqui denominada escuta arquetípica. Entende-se que existem elementos suficientes para supor a congruência epistemológica entre o método empregado por Hillman e a pretensão analítica de executar a redução fenomenológica para o exame desse recorte de sua obra.

The revelation of this relationship constitutes a crucial and indispensable element of analytical work. The enduring interest in this perspective demonstrates the value of investigating its innovations compared to other psychologies of the unconscious. Its most relevant differentiator lies in how it practices the listening of the subject in analysis. In an ongoing investigation in clinical practice, its relevance in contemporary contexts is evident, mainly due to its close connection with phenomenology, placing it within a growing movement of scientific foundation and recognition. Archetypal psychology, a post-Jungian reading that remains faithful to the assumptions of a psychology of the image, finds one of its most excellent representations in the work of James Hillman (1926-2011). The emphasis on image-focused therapy, derived from the Jungian perspective of remaining stick to it, refined a psychological analysis focused on understanding the images of the unconscious. This research aims to identify and comprehend, within the temporal span of the 1970s in Hillman's work, moments that can be designated and described as the experience of this listening, termed archetypal listening. It is understood that there are sufficient elements to posit the epistemological congruence between Hillman's method and the analytical intention to perform phenomenological reduction to examine this segment of his work.
