As mudanças ocorridas no mundo moderno desafiam, por meio do surgimento de formas alternativas de organização social, os valores tradicionais de instituições como a religiosa, no espaço público, e a familiar, no espaço privado. A partir disso, o objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma análise interpretativa do ethos e da visão-de-mundo de uma comunidade evangélica presbiteriana no que se refere às relações de gênero e à vivência da sexualidade de seus membros procurando apreender como introjetam padrões e códigos do universo religioso e como lidam com as mudanças da sociedade em que vivem. Realizada entre um grupo de presbiterianos, a pesquisa evidenciou a forte vinculação entre religião e família e a maneira pela qual esses presbiterianos reinterpretam os princípios religiosos, na tentativa de articulá-los aos novos valores e modelos de relações de gênero, divisão sexual do trabalho e moralidade sexual que emergem na sociedade inclusiva. A reinterpretação desses novos valores provoca ambiguidades que se mostram no espaço de tensão vivenciado por esses presbiterianos. Estes apresentam um discurso que enfatiza a igualdade entre os sexos e, ao mesmo tempo, demonstram práticas ainda atreladas aos padrões tradicionais de relações e constituição familiares.

The changes occuring in the present world are, through the arising alternatives of social organization, challenging the traditional values of institutions such as: the religious, in the public space and the familial ones, in the private space. The aim of this research was to do an interpretative analysis of the "ethos" and the world view of a presbyterian evangelical community concerning the relations of gender and the representations of sexuality of its members, and also try to apprehend how this group absorbs patterns and codes of the religious universe, and how the presbyterians in this particular group deals with the new changes occurring in the society they live in. This research was done with a presbyterian group. It evinced a strong linkage between religion and family, and also the way how they reinterpret the religious principles in an attempt to link them with the new values and new models of relationship of gender, sexual division of the work and sexual morality that emerges from the inclusive society. The reinterpretation of these new values causes ambiguities that are displayed in the space of tension that this religious group has experienced. They still present a discourse that emphasizes equalization between men and women, and at the same time display practices that are held in linkage with the traditional patterns of familial relationship and familial constitution.
