Abstract in English
This study in History of Education introduces an interpretation about the university and the youth during the late 1960's through the reading of the Lygia Fagundes Telles's novel As Meninas. It is oriented by the notion that by turning into fiction three female universitary students under Brazilian Military Dictatorship the author provided clues to the debate about the formation projects in course that time. Therefore, literature was understood as an object capable of revealing the socialy existing tensions (CHARTIER, SEVCENKO), and language was taken as historical material to the discussion (BAKHTIN, VOLÓCHINOV). The analysis made through reading the discoursive tension produced by the novel indicated components of the existing disputes back then, particularly by the characterization and narrative arc of the characters. Lorena, Lia and Ana Clara, the main characters of the kaleidoscopic and polifonic novel, represent a youth project that took the university as a central path to upward mobility (CUNHA), at the same time that questioned the universitary organization itself by being strange elements to this kind of space: they were women that challenged their pre-defined roles by occupying the at that time male-designed places. Simultaneously they would mobilize tactics (CERTEAU) that allowed them to produce their own journeys interacting with the existing discourses. This analysis thus allowed us to glimpse the elements of the ideological debate at that time, by interpreting the university as a place of possibilities and disputes.
