A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo, identificar a existência de especificidades nas demandas de mulheres que procuram auxílio em processos de orientação profissional e de carreira (OPC). A pesquisa foi feita através do Serviço de Orientação Profissional do Instituto de Psicologia da Universidade de São Paulo (SOP-IPUSP) que é um serviço universitário criado em 1970 para atender as demandas de estágios práticos para as/os alunas/os do curso de psicologia na área de OPC oferecendo atendimento à comunidade, atuando em conjunto com o LABOR (Laboratório de Estudos sobre Trabalho e Orientação Profissional), auxiliando pesquisas nesta área e atendendo gratuitamente jovens, adultas/os e universitárias/os. Para embasamento teórico, foi utilizada a perspectiva teórica do socioconstrucionismo, e foi feita uma pesquisa qualitativa, através das narrativas retiradas dos relatórios de entrevista de triagem das participantes da pesquisa. O resultado desta pesquisa apresenta dois pontos importantes a serem considerados. O primeiro, confirma a literatura nacional e internacional sobre o tema, e mostra a grande desigualdade entre a construção de carreira das mulheres e dos homens, no que diz respeito à oportunidades de trabalho e salários, ficando claro o quanto as relações de gênero sobredeterminam as demandas das mulheres que procuram um processo de orientação de carreira, principalmente em função da maternidade, das relações afetivas e da construção dos papéis de gênero pelas famílias de origem. O segundo, original da presente pesquisa, se constituindo numa contribuição relevante, foi ver quanto e como as relações de gênero (apoios) podem auxiliar na construção da carreira das mulheres. Conclui-se também que é indiscutível e de grande importância, a inclusão do gênero nas análises do campo da orientação profissional e de carreira (OPC)

The present research aims to identify the existence of specificities in the demands of women who seek assistance in processes of career counselling (CC). The research was done in the Career Guidance and Counselling Service of the Psychology Institute of the University of São Paulo (SOP-IPUSP), which is a university service created in 1970 to meet the demands of practical internships for students of the psychology course in the area of CC offering services to the community, working together with the Laboratory of Studies on Work and Career Guidance and Counselling (LABOR), developing research in this area and attending young people, adults and university students free of charge. For theoretical basis was used the socioconstructionist perspective and a qualitative research was carried out, through the narratives derived from the reports of screening interview of the participants. The result of this research presents two important points to be considered. The first confirms the national and international literature on the subject, and shows the great inequality between the development of the career of women and men, with regard to job opportunities and wages, making it clear how much gender relations overdetermined the demands of women seeking career counseling (CC) process, mainly due to motherhood, personal relationships and the construction of gender roles of the original families. The second novel from this research, and constituting a relevant contribution, was to determine how much and how gender relations (support) can help in the development of women's careers.
