No ano de 2019, conforme apontado pela Fundação João Pinheiro, havia no Brasil um déficit de 5,876 milhões de moradias. Somente na Região Metropolitana de São Paulo, a demanda estimada era de 590 mil moradias em contraste com a existência de 571.491 imóveis vazios, sendo 40 mil somente na região central da cidade. Os movimentos sociais organizados possibilitam um lar aos sem-tetos, ocupando prédios vazios e sem função social, efetivando assim um direito garantido pela Constituição Federal de 1988, o direito à moradia. Sobre a situação da habitação no Brasil, este projeto de pesquisa abordou um ponto mais específico desta questão social, os mais vulneráveis nesse processo pelo direito à moradia: as crianças. O objetivo principal desta pesquisa foi conhecer como as crianças moradoras de uma ocupação habitacional vivenciam e representam plasticamente o espaço da moradia, por meio de oficinas artísticas. A partir de uma metodologia de pesquisa qualitativa com estudo de inspiração etnográfica, propôs-se conhecer o cotidiano dessas crianças na Ocupação José Bonifácio, na região central da cidade de São Paulo. Inicialmente, foram realizadas entrevistas com a assistente social, lideranças e mães da ocupação. Com o fim do isolamento social imposto pela pandemia da Covid-19, foram iniciadas as oficinas artísticas que tiveram a participação de crianças de 6 a 12 anos de idade, de ambos os sexos, para abordar a temática da moradia. Pode-se concluir que as crianças vivenciam o espaço da ocupação pelo brincar e pela ludicidade. O desenho, como linguagem artística, permitiu que as crianças moradoras da ocupação pudessem construir e narrar como representam sua moradia e vivenciam os espaços por elas mesmas, sendo a figura da casa, a representação maior do lar.

In 2019, as pointed out by the João Pinheiro Foundation, there was a deficit of 5.876 million homes in Brazil. Only in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, the estimated demand was 590,000 homes, in contrast to the existence of 571,491 empty properties, 40,000 of which were in the central region of the city alone. Organized social movements provide a home for the homeless, occupying empty buildings with no social function, thus realizing a right guaranteed by the Federal Constitution of 1988, the right to housing. Regarding the housing situation in Brazil, this research project intends to address a more specific point of this social issue, the most vulnerable in this process for the right to housing: children. The main objective of this research was to know how children living in housing occupations experience and plastically represent their housing space, through artistic workshops. Based on a qualitative research methodology with an ethnographic study, it was proposed to share the daily life of these children in the José Bonifácio Occupation, in the central region of the city of São Paulo. Initially, interviews were conducted with the social worker, leaders, and mothers of the occupation. From the end of the social isolation imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, artistic workshops were started with the participation of children aged 6 to 12, of both sexes, to address the theme of housing. It can be concluded that children experience the occupation space through play and play. Drawing, as an artistic language, allowed the children living in the occupation to build and narrate how they represent their home and experience the spaces for themselves, with the figure of the house being the most significant representation of the home.
