Abstract in English
This work presents a propose of treatment and final disposal of tannery waste with chromium, which corresponds to stabilization/solidification process. The method consists in the mixture of cement and water with the waste such that, when the system is solidified, a rigid block is obteined with low hazardous of contamination of soil and groundwater after its disposal into landfill. The elaborated system is constituted by cement, water, sodic bentonite, organoclay and waste. The addition of clay has the property of adsorb the waste and to be fixed at the cement, decreasing the ability for leachate of the waste by the water to the land. The objective of the work is to study the viability of this process into its application at the waste with chromium. Some experiments were realized to study the behavior of each component added at the cement. To analyze the mechanical performance of the solidified matrix formed, attempted strength resistance and porosity. Leachate essay was performed too, that is a very important factor in the hazardous wastes treatment. X-Ray Diffraction Analysis and Differential Thermal Analysis of the waste were analyzed. The results obtained showed that the application of this process to the treatment of the hazardou waste generated into the tannery industry is viable.
