Abstract in English
This work is concerned with the investigation on torsional vibration of marine propulsion and auxiliary power plants driven by Diesel engines. Severe vibration problems that have occurred in this type of systems could be avoided by a careful study in the design stage. It is developed with this purpose a calculation procedure of torsional vibrations, and a corresponding computer program, to be used in the design and analysis of the mentioned power plants; furthermore, a correlation is established between the modern techniques, upon which the proposed procedure is based and the conventional calculation methods. The procedure is applied to some examples to analyze the system dynamic behavior as well as to evaluate different methods of vibration control and attenuation. Vibration measures taken from test-bed engine trials are used to check the calculation method.
