Abstract in English
The main objective of this research was to analyse a riveted aluminum structure with the aid of three discinctive approaches: 1An experimental method; 2. Theoretical formulations; and 3. The finite elemento method. The structure under analysis consisted of a 1,80 X 0,40 X 0,15 m Box-shaped model with a rectangular hole in one of the larger sides, besides longitudinal reinforcements and transversal bulkheads, resembling a barge or a ship structural cell. The structure was first submitted to external forces, and the resulting tensions were measured with strain gages. The results of this experimental approach were compared with those obtained from the analysis of the structure using both theoretical formulations and the finite elemento method. The thesis contains details, discussions and comparisons of the applications and results.
