Este trabalho apresenta uma sistemática de projeto de embarcações do tipo catamarã usando conceitos de projeto de navios convencionais. Propõe um procedimento de cálculo aplicado a regiões de águas abrigadas exemplificando com uma embarcação projetada para operar no rio Amazonas. Mostra o desenvolvimento do projeto nas fases de concepção e preliminar, a interação de informações entre projetista e armador, e resultados finais do catamarã construído e em operação.

This report presents a design methodology for a catamaran vessel using concepts derived from conventionals ships design. The methodology is applied to the design of a catamaran for inland navigation in the Amazon river. The work shows the study carried out during the conceptual and preliminar phases. It also shows the interactions between the designer and shipowner during design stage. Results concerning the construction, trial and operation of the vessel are also presented and compared with the initial design assumptions.
