Abstract in English
This dissertation studies the complete choral arrangements created by Marcos Leite (1953- 2002) throughout his life. He was a conductor, pianist, guitarist, violist, and accordion player. It must explain his way of working to make possible to talk about his arrangements, object of study of this dissertation. He had a peculiar way of dressing, behaving and, above all, solving any unforeseen issues that arose, both in his professional and personal life. This way, this dissertation aims to demonstrate the different technical and aesthetical solutions created by Marcos Leite on his arrangements written between 1978 and 2001, identifying his style, his way of making the arrangements and his writing process. This study is methodologically based on four authors: André Protásio Pereira, Ian Guest, Marco Antonio da Silva Ramos, and Marcos Leite himself. Based on these authors, an attempt was made to identify which musical element could be used for a first evaluation of the 358 arrangements under study: texture was the essential element to differentiate and categorize his arrangements. Therefore, the arrangements were categorically organized into eight groups of different textures. For each of these identified textures, with the aid of a timeline of the arrangement composition and a table of these textures, eight arrangements that were relevant in Marcos Leite's career were selected. In addition to the analysis of the arrangements and methodological procedures reported here, this dissertation also discussed the choral trajectory, the dynamics of the arrangements and the Canto e Vida course by Marcos Leite.
