Abstract in English
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is as a directive, person-centered style of counseling to address and explore ambivalence for behavioral change. MS has been used in different areas of health care, and it has proved to be effective both in reducing inappropriate behaviors and in promoting adaptive changes in health behavior. This study aimed to: (1) verify the application of motivational interviewing in the treatment of sensorineural hearing loss and (2) perform the localization process for the Brazilian public of the Client Engagement and Ida Motivation Tools course developed by the Ida Institute for later availability to Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology undergraduate students. To answer the 1st objective, a systematic literature review was performed in the following databases: Virtual Health Library, CINAHL, Embase, PsycINFO, MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar, in which intervention studies were searched with no design limitations. We found 130 references and, after exclusion of repeated studies and independent analysis by two evaluators, four studies were included in the review, namely randomized clinical trials (n = 2), quasi-experimental (n=1), and pre and post-test (n=1). The studies focused on the benefits of MI to increase the use or benefit obtained with the hearing aids (HA). The evidence quality was checked via bias risk assessment.
