Esta pesquisa analisa as dinâmicas urbanas da área central da cidade de São Paulo a partir da perspectiva dos protagonistas da luta por moradia. Como forma de compreender a lógica presente nas dinâmicas do habitar e os processos envolvidos nas relações internas e externas na luta organizada pela permanência na cidade, foi realizada pesquisa longitudinal junto a ocupações de moradia realizadas pelo Movimento de Moradia Central e Regional (MMCR), com destaque para as ocupações Rio Branco e Luís Gama, ambas localizadas na região central da cidade. Devido à atuação coletiva entre movimentos sociais que lutam por moradia, foi realizado também o acompanhamento das atividades da Frente de Luta por Moradia (FLM), coletivo que congrega doze movimentos organizados de moradia. A fim de contribuir com o registro do que foi vivenciado pelas famílias filiadas a esses movimentos sociais, o trabalho conta com o registro de experiências vividas por moradores e lideranças das ocupações e movimentos estudados, de forma que se possa compreender como se dá o acesso de seus moradores aos espaços, serviços e equipamentos da cidade. Por fim, espera-se contribuir no entendimento sobe as motivações para a ocupação de edifícios vazios na região central de São Paulo.

This research analyzes the urban dynamics of the central area of São Paulo city, from the perspective of the struggle protagonists for housing. As a way of understanding the logic that is present in the dynamics of dwelling, and the processes involved in the internal and external relations in the organized struggle to stay in the city, this research was carried out with housing occupations carried out by the Movimento de Moradia Central e Regional (MMCR), with emphasis on Rio Branco and Luís Gama occupations, both located at the central region of the city. Due to the collective action between social movements that fight for housing, the Frente de Luta por Moradia (FLM), a collective that organizes about twelve housing movements, was also monitored. In order to contribute to the record of what was experienced by the families affiliated to these social movements, the work includes the record of experiences lived by residents, and leaders of the occupations and movements studied, so that one can understand how the residents get to access the spaces, services, and equipment of the city. Finally, it is expected to contribute to the elucidation of the issues that lead people to occupy empty buildings in the downtown region of São Paulo.
