Paulo Freire

Abstract in English
Paulo Freire has contributed to building a critical and political pedagogy, in which the liberating education leads to consciousness/awareness through the reality transformation process. The influence of his work is observed in different fields of knowledge, hence the fact that it sets a way of positioning oneself for reading the world. As from present concepts in Freires work, as well as in interviews with architects and urbanists connected to governments, technical advisory entities and the academy, acting in popular territories from the Metropolitan area of São Paulo, aligned to social movements and in diverse historical contexts, relations are to be established between the popular fields of education and architecture and urbanism, in order to guide professional practices for those to be here defined as Freirean professionals. Built after these reports, the Experian Mosaic contributes to comprehending the influence of Paulo Freire in dialogical construction of the relationships with people, families and advised groups, for a politicization and sensitization process of the practices. It is concluded, when it comes to the space production processes, that the Freirean professional of architecture and urbanism performs a mediation role, linking urban and habitational necessities with public policy institutions, positioning oneself along with the oppressed through the reality transformation and the pursuit of civil rights, not hiding underneath ostensible/pretended neutrality.
