Abstract in English
Just as Afonso Taunay (1876-1958) was involved in the creation of an iconography from São Paulo that began during the preparation of the Museu Paulista for the celebrations of the centenary of Independence of Brazil in 1922, Adolfo Pedro Carranza (1857-1914), director and founder of the Museo Histórico Nacional de Buenos Aires, he also did it for the celebrations of the centenary of Argentine Independence in 1910. This dissertation focuses on the analysis of the curatorial cycle that led to two publications made for the celebrations of the centenary of Independence, Grandes vultos da Independência Brasileira (1922), by Afonso Taunay, and Los héroes de la Independencia (1910), by Adolfo P. Carranza. These are the end point of a curatorial cycle that involved the acquisition of works and their dissemination.
