Como tema central e estruturador deste projeto, são problematizados aspectos do processo de produção e transformação da cidade contemporânea, com um olhar específico para os Bairros do Tamanduateí em São Paulo. O foco da investigação aqui apresentada se debruça sobre as relações entre indústria e território, entre a arquitetura e o urbanismo, com interesse particular no processo mais recente de reorganização produtiva, deslocamento e fechamento industrial. Tem como objetivos compreender o processo de deslocamento produtivo e os remanescentes industriais existentes, explorando ainda a sobreposição de usos e significados vinculados a estes. Busca ainda aproximar o caso dos bairros do Tamanduateí às experiências de levantamento de campo no Vale do Ruhr, na Alemanha e canal de Lachine, no Canadá. O eixo de análise e debate proposto está inscrito dentro de uma investigação histórico-interpretativa. Para tal, o quadro conceitual foi organizado em cinco temáticas principais, a saber: desindustrialização; cultura na produção contemporânea da cidade; dinâmicas urbanas atuais; patrimonialização da indústria e terrain vagues. Utiliza-se de uma metodologia transversal para a combinação de escalas, tratando o deslocamento industrial como um fenômeno global e seus rebatimentos no território, comunidade local e edificações remanescentes. Para tal, utiliza-se também do estudo de caso de Batatuba, Piracaia-SP. A pesquisa mostrou que embora exista efetivamente um processo de deslocamento industrial, reestruturação produtiva e fechamento de segmentos da indústria, as atividades fabris encontram-se presentes e ativas no território, isto é, atuantes dentro das dinâmicas urbanas contemporâneas. Os remanescentes industriais, com ou sem uso original, são, deste modo, objetos de múltiplas reinterpretações. A investigação mostra uma recente ressignificação deste passado industrial, um processo de patrimonialização da indústria. Para além desta, há um importante diálogo sendo estabelecido entre estes edifícios e os territórios remanescentes com a produção artística, alguns dos quais a pesquisa busca apresentar. A investigação mostra ainda a presença de uma comunidade prática e de uso cotidiano que se contrapõe a retomadas que tendem a valorizar apenas seus aspetos materiais.

As the central and structuring theme of this project, aspects of the process of production and transformation of the contemporary city are problematized, with a specific look at the Tamanduateí neighbourhoods in São Paulo. The focus of the research presented here is on the relationship between industry and territory, between architecture and urbanism, with a particular interest in the most recent process of productive reorganization, displacement and industrial closure. It aims to understand the process of productive displacement and the existing industrial remnants, while also exploring the overlapping uses and meanings linked to them. It also seeks to bring the case of the Tamanduateí neighborhoods closer to the experiences of field research in the Ruhr Valley in Germany and the Lachine Canal in Canada. The proposed axis of analysis and debate is part of a historical-interpretative investigation. To this end, the conceptual framework has been organized into five main themes: deindustrialization; culture in the contemporary production of the city; current urban dynamics; the patrimonialization of industry and terrain vagues. It uses a transversal methodology to combine scales, treating industrial displacement as a global phenomenon and its repercussions on the territory, the local community and the remaining buildings. It also uses the case study of Batatuba, Piracaia-SP. The research showed that although there is indeed a process of industrial displacement, productive restructuring and closure of segments of industry, manufacturing activities are present and active in the territory, that is, they are active within contemporary urban dynamics. Industrial remnants, with or without their original use, are thus the objects of multiple reinterpretations. The research shows a recent re-signification of this industrial past, a process of patrimonialization of industry. Beyond this, there is an important dialog being established between these buildings and the remaining territories with artistic production, some of which the research seeks to present. The research also shows the presence of a community of practice and everyday use that stands in contrast to the revivals that tend to value only their material aspects.
