Para a forma assumida pela cidade de São Paulo durante os primeiros decênios do século XX concorreram, entre outras coisas, o intenso crescimento econômico e uma renovação da paisagem inspirada, sobretudo, na arquitetura europeia, fonte de modelos e lugar de origem de vários profissionais que atuaram na cidade. Uma das expressões das alterações da cidade foi as edificações residenciais, que introduziram arranjos espaciais e soluções estéticas e técnicas inovadoras, rompendo com os padrões construtivos até então estabelecidos e cooperando para a difusão de novas linguagens arquitetônicas, entre as quais o Art Nouveau. O estilo, apesar da pouca difusão no Brasil, obteve expressiva notoriedade e apuro plástico nos projetos do arquiteto francês Victor Dubugras (1868-1933). Esta tese estuda a arquitetura residencial produzida por Victor Dubugras na cidade de São Paulo, entre 1902 e 1913. Busca verificar de que forma a tipologia e o Art Nouveau são tratados em seus projetos, que são investigados em termos de implantação e definição de acessos, programa, articulação entre espaços internos e externos, ordenamento espacial, tratamento formal e detalhes construtivos. A pesquisa também investiga as possíveis referências projetuais mobilizadas na concepção desses projetos, assim como a posição deles na trajetória projetual e profissional de Dubugras.

To the form assumed by the city of São Paulo during the first decades of the twentieth century competing, among other things, the intense economic growth and a renewal of the landscape inspired, mostly, by the European architecture, source of models and place of origin of several professionals who worked in the city. One of the expressions of the changes of the city was the residential buildings, which introduced spatial arrangements and innovative aesthetic and technical solutions, breaking with the established building standards and cooperating for the diffusion of new architectural languages, such as the art nouveau. The style, in spite of the little appropriation in Brazil, achieved significant notoriety and plastic refinement in the designs of French architect Victor Dubugras (1868- 1933). The present research studies the residential architecture of Victor Dubugras intended for the bourgeoisie in the city of São Paulo, between 1902 and 1913. It seeks to verify how a typology and art nouveau are addressed in its projects, which are investigated in terms of site plan and definition of access, program, articulation between interior and exterior spaces, spatial planning, formal treatment and constructive details. The research also investigates the possible design references mobilized in the conception of these projects, as well as their position in Dubugras' design and professional trajectory.
