Vila Itororó Canteiro Aberto

Abstract in English
Vila Itororó, located in São Paulo, in the Municipal District of Bela Vista, was built in the 1920s and had dwelling as main function. In 2010, after being registered as a heritage site, São Paulo Mayors Office expropriated the site and removed more than 70 families in order to restore it and make it a cultural center, called Vila Itororó Canteiro Aberto, which has since sparked the discussion of dwelling as a form of culture. This dissertation sought to understand through interviews with citizens, former residents of the Vila, residents of the Bela Vista District and people interested in the subject, what is their assimilation of Vila Itororó Canteiro Aberto between the years of 2015 and 2018, while it was under Instituto Pedras management. The results obtained are not part of a binary logic and are the most varied, since Vila Itororó is part of a zone of disputes and interests among former residents, São Paulo Mayors Office, Instituto Pedra, and patrons who finance the project, among others, which have their conflicts managed in the space of Canteiro Aberto.
