Esta dissertação divide-se em duas partes, dedicadas respectivamente aos discursos indígenas sobre e na internet, por parte de grupos ou de seus membros envolvidos em experiências de inclusão digital. Trata-se de entender, pela análise desses enunciados, com quais razões e objetivos o uso deste meio de comunicação interessa, ou não, os agentes indígenas em questão, e de compreender, assim, suas perspectivas sobre as relações que constroem com a sociedade não-indígena e o papel da comunicação nessas relações. O trabalho aborda em particular as experiências suruí, ikpeng, kuikuro e guarani mbya, entre outros. A proposta, no título, de ensaio regressivo não remete a uma retrospecção histórica, mas a uma inversão metodológica. Se comumente etnografar significa acompanhar processos, proponho aqui fazer o contrário. Na presente impossibilidade de acompanhar processos de comunicação, lido com seus produtos: os discursos. Trata-se assim de proceder de uma forma um tanto reversa, de alcançar e compreender processos a partir de seus resultados. A análise desse material sugere que a comunicação, nos contextos considerados, consiste menos num esforço orientado para marcar diferenças que para conectar e articular o próprio universo cognitivo com o da sociedade não-indígena, estabelecendo equivalências e complementaridade.

This work is divided in two parts, dedicated respectively to the indigenous discourses about, and on the internet, by groups or by their members involved in so called digital inclusion experiences. Through the analysis of such discourses, it seeks to understand the reasons and objectives underlying the interest or disinterest that the indigenous agents have with regard to the use of this means of communication. Beyond that point, it aims to comprehend, in broader terms, their perspectives on their relationships with the nonindigenous society and the role of communication in these relationships. The work is mainly discussing the experiences of the Suruí, Ikpeng, Kuikuro and Guarani Mbya peoples of Brazil, among others. The proposal, in the title, of a regressive essay does not refer to an historical retrospection, but rather to a methodological inversion. If, in general terms, "doing ethnography" means accompanying processes, I here propose to do things the other way around. Due to the current impossibility of following the communication processes, I am actually dealing with their products: the discourses. This is therefore about proceeding conversely, reaching and understanding processes from their results. The analysis of these materials suggests that communication, in the considered contexts, consists much less in an effort directed towards emphasizing differences than towards connecting and articulating cognitive universes, establishing equivalences and complementarity.
