Com o objetivo de analisar a experiência vivida do suicídio elegeu-se como objeto de estudo cartas e bilhetes deixados por pessoas que se mataram. A execução da pesquisa e a análise de vivências compartilhadas nas mensagens teve como referencial teórico e metodológico a Fenomenologia Clássica (Husserl) e desdobramentos e apropriações (Landsberg) desse campo de conhecimento. A partir do acesso a inquéritos de suicídios arquivados no Tribunal de Justiça de São Paulo foram selecionados, intencionalmente, escritos de seis pessoas, com um recorte temporal de 1913 a 2009. Para a seleção das pessoas utilizou-se como critério reunir exemplos de tempos diferentes e de histórias que explorassem campos diversos de experiências humanas. Na análise compreensiva das cartas e bilhetes acompanharam-se dinâmicas vivenciais relacionadas a uma noção de si e aos vínculos entre autor, destinatário e o conteúdo da mensagem. Foram consultadas, ainda, outras peças do inquérito para a apreensão do desenlace do acontecimento dos seis suicídios. As análises das histórias de suicídio e de experiências reveladas nas mensagens indicam variações sem fim diante da decisão entre o continuar a viver e o decidir morrer, coexistindo afetos ambíguos, intensos e contrastantes. Enfrentando essas variações, emergiram quatro estruturas constitutivas do decidir morrer: uma vinculação entre viver, sofrer e morrer; o suicídio como uma saída de emergência; o ato de se matar como uma resposta sobre si e sobre a vida; e a morte autoinfligida como uma abdicação simultânea de si e do outro. A escrita de mensagens e o movimento de se matar são atos humanos vívidos e radicais, reveladores de imprevisibilidades e de descontinuidades de modos de viver que desencadeiam alternâncias de afetos no irromper de um instante. Assim sendo, é preciso repensar ideias de prevenção do suicídio que se baseiem em tentativas de cerceamentos e controle da condição viva e indomável do existir humano. Ao abrir espaço para a expressão das vozes de pessoas que se mataram foi possível se aproximar do campo vivido do suicídio, que se fundamenta na interação entre um "eu" e seu mundo circundante. Conclui-se que a experiência vivida do suicídio não se reduz a uma subjetividade isolada, mas se movimenta em um espaço articulado e mutuamente constituído por um "eu", um "tu" e um horizonte histórico. Essa mútua constituição carrega uma potência latente de participar tanto da preservação quanto da corrosão de elementos estruturantes do viver e da decisão de morrer. Nas vivências das seis pessoas que acompanhamos foi possível ouvir ecos de suas lutas existenciais, vividas e desencadeadas em um espaço de interações sociais: uma luta transcrita em palavras e que impele à intensificação do esforço de compreensão e acompanhamento a pessoas que estejam vivendo experiências em torno do suicídio

Letters and notes left behind by people who committed suicide were chosen as the object of this study with the goal of analyzing their experiences. The theoretical framework for carrying out this study and the analysis of the shared experiences was Classical Phenomenology (Husserl) with additions and adaptations (Landsberg) from this field of knowledge. Six texts were chosen, intentionally, from police investigations of suicides archived at the State Court of Appeals of São Paulo, dating from 1913 to 2009. The selection criterion used was the gathering of examples of different time periods and stories that explored various fields of the human experience. Dynamic experiences regarding the notion of self-concept and the connections between the author, the recipient and the content of the message accompany a comprehensive analysis of the letters and notes. Other documentation from the investigation was consulted in order to understand the final outcomes of the six suicides. Analysis of the accounts of suicide as well as the experiences revealed from the messages indicate unending variation in the face of the choice between continuing to live or deciding to die, with the coexistence of ambiguous, intense and contrasting affects. Facing these variations, four constitutive structures of the choice to die emerged: a link between living, suffering and dying; suicide as an emergency exit; the act of killing oneself as an answer to oneself and to life; and self-inflicted death as a simultaneous abdication of oneself and the other. The writing of messages and the act of killing oneself are vivid and radical human acts, revealing unpredictability and a discontinuity of ways of life that trigger alternations of affect at a moment's notice. Consequently, it is necessary to reconsider tactics for the prevention of suicide which are based on limiting and controlling the living and unrelenting condition of human existence. By giving a voice to those who committed suicide it was possible to come closer to the field of experience of suicide, which is based on the interaction between an "I" and the world around it. We conclude that the experience of suicide is not reduced to an isolated subjectivity, but moves in an articulated space mutually constituted by an "I", a "you" and a historical horizon. This mutual constitution carries a latent power to participate in both the preservation and corrosion of structural elements of living and the decision to die.
