Este estudo investigativo refere-se às formulações de categorias conceituais para fundamentar e definir a performance comunicativa do programa TV Escola na formação continuada do professor dentro do sistema nacional da educação básica. A pesquisa posiciona-se diante de uma problemática teórica sobre a significação e o movimento sígnico da atuação da televisão educativa. As práticas das imagens têm sido consideradas longe da sua expressividade social e das possibilidades reflexivas, o que reduz a compreensão de dois campos do saber: o da comunicação e o da educação. A performance comunicativa, desenvolvida ao longo da pesquisa, constitui-se em uma categoria conceitual sensível e concreta, de natureza teórico-metodológica, capaz de intervir nos processos investigativos e nas práticas institucionais.

This investigative study refers to the formulations of conceptual categories to base and to define the communicative performance of TV Escola program on the continued teacher development in the national system of basic education. The research locates on a theoretical issue on the signification and the sign movement of the educative television performance. The image practices have been considered far from its social expressiveness and from the reflexive possibilities, what reduces the understanding of two fields of knowing: communication and education. The communicative performance, developed during the research, constitutes itself in a sensible and concrete conceptual category, of theoretical-methodological nature, capable to interfere on the investigative processes and the institutional practices.
