Title in Portuguese

Modelos animais
Tolerância imunologia

Abstract in English
Sepsis is caused by microorganism: gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, mycosis and virus. The Gram- positive and Gram- negative bacteria are responsible for 36% and 35% of cases, respectively. Brazilian data from study BASES shown sepsis as the main disease in costs for healthcare system. Brazil spent in 2003 as much as R$ 17,34 billions, for ICU patients care, it is about 30 to 35% of global budget for Health Ministery. Brazil has 9 to 10,000 ICU, and 25% is used for septic patients, the mortality is 50%. The incidence of sepsis in Brazil is estimated in 398,000 cases in 2003, and 227.000 patients presented an evolution to septic shock or death. Here I will present part of my studies in sepsis field.
