Abstract in English
Motivated by the conviction that what is necessary is to build an inclusive school adjusted to the profile of our students and to the appeals of the democratic and technological society, this investigation is guided by the goal of rethinking contents, forms and relationships at school, more specifically, by outlining the teaching of the written language. To this end, theoretical socio-constructivist framework and Bakhtin's language concepts backed the fieldwork conducted at an NGO, the Instituto André Franco Vive in São Paulo (SP), with primary school students, following three fronts of investigation. In the first one, starting from the social problem of illiteracy and low literacy level in Brazil, the school theme and that of the very written language were taken as contents of approach among children, in the attempt to understand their link with the school and their relationship with the written language. In the second one, starting from the didactic problem of contemplating language's social and dialogical nature, we sought to understand how the different forms of work (written language's purposes and resources on paper or on computers) affect the text production. Finally, the third front of investigation, by taking into account the problem of educational attitudes that so often condemn the student to passiveness and submission, took a turn toward the study of interactive processes (among students themselves and students and the adult) in building the written language and in solving problems as reflection mechanism. The focus placed on the relationship between people and the object of knowledge points to a new configuration of the education process, not only because it values the leading role the learner plays, but also because it recognizes the complexity and magnitude of the ideal of human development. In the case study conducted with 30 students (10 first grade, 10 third grade and 10 fifth grade primary school students), the 214 text productions collected over five situations and marked by different work conditions constitute the corpus of investigation. Furthermore, the video recording of those different moments and data entered in the Fieldwork Journal allowed the written production processes to be analyzed. The result of the investigation shows that the same children, who were adversely affected by the social context of low literacy level - children having a fragile link with the school and a compromised relationship with knowledge - are able to respond to the appeals of the written language and to the conditions of text production.
