Esta resenha versa sobre contribuições de cálculos de estrutura eletrônica ab initio para o estudo de Interações Hiperfinas. Apresentamos essencialmente dois aspectos de aplicação das pesquisas nesta área interdisciplinar _ As aplicações em Física Nuclear se referem a determinação de quantidades nucleares como o Momento de Quadrupolo Nuclear. As aplicações em Física da Matéria Condensada se referem à caracterização estrutural em escala atômica . Analisamos a eficiência e adequação de diferentes abordagens teóricas para o cálculo de grandezas· hiperfinas e discutimos o seu "estado da arte". Procuramos demonstrar a evolução ocorrida nesta área nos últimos dez anos e discutimos as nossas contribuições.

Hyperfine interactions: contribution of ab-initio approaches

Here we review some contributions given by ab initio electronic structure calculations to the understanding of Hyperfine lnteractions. We essencially focus on two different aspects of this subject: a) aplications to Nudear Physics and b) aplications to Condensed Matter Physics. The Nuclear Physics quantity we deal with here is the Nuclear Quadrupole Moment . The contributions to Condensed Matter Physics are related to structural characterizations on the atomic scale. We also discuss the "state of the art" on theoretical calculations of Hiperfine Quantities and make a criticai review of our work on this field in the last ten years.
