Abstract in English
The research work in Hypoplasticity consists traditionally in seeking new particular hypoplastic equations for a good description of soil behaviour in a variety of situations. Little is done, however, in relation to theoretical investigations. This is the subject of the first part of this thesis where general properties of hypoplastic equations are examined. Among the theoretical questions discussed in the present work are: the precise definition of a hypoplastic material, whose response is characterised by the solution of an ordinary differential equation, with given initial value, the formulation and the solution of basic problems, the analysis of yielding in Hypoplasticity and in Plasticity and the analysis of the behaviour in the vicinity of the reference configuration (which leads to a new class of materials: the polyelastic materials). The second part of this thesis deals with a question more directly related to applications: a new constitutive theory is proposed with the aim of eliminating the main defect of Hypoplasticity, which becomes clear when the material is loaded, unloaded and reloaded along the same stress path or, in general, in cyclic loadings.
