Abstract in English
Educational objects are made up of alternative but essentially complementary materials that differ from the traditional models offered by textbooks because they offer the possibility of greater interaction and playfulness in the treatment of subjects such as: Solar system, space travel, land movements And satellites within the thematic Astronomy. The educational objects can be constructed by the students during the accomplishment of the proposed and / or previously selected activities within a physical or digital collection available to the schools. The use of these tools provides a teaching practice that is specifically guided by the concern with meaningful learning. Educational objects enable scientific literacy widely advocated by education specialists, by developing autonomous thinking and capable of assuring the student the reflection, development and construction of hypotheses and decision-making to solve practical challenges. In this work, the educational objects were used as an alternative for the teaching of astronomy concepts in the science discipline for elementary students I and II in public schools in the State of São Paulo. In association was carried out teacher training to use educational objects in the teaching of astronomy concepts for elementary students II. The students elaborated some educational objects that were used in the practical classes, thus exercising the meaningful learning defended by Ausubel. Thus, the approach to teaching astronomy, highlighting its pillars promoted, within the school, the production and use of materials that fostered the acquisition of knowledge in order to replace the static traditionalism of the engravings contained in the materials commonly used, for a more Practical and meaningful. The results showed that the practical classes elaborated for the fundamental teachings I and II with the use of educational objects in informal environments favored the student and teacher communication, providing a more effective and constant articulation between information collection and remedial action, which probably contributed to the Favoring students' performance. The practical classes proposed in the fundamental teaching I and II using educational objects showed a learning gain that according to the Hake (1998) scale is at a medium level (g = 0.46). In carrying out individual student follow-up there were exchanges of experiences among the students generating meaning to what was being discussed and experienced in the classroom, with the support of educational objects. In addition, it was observed the need to disseminate such teaching practice to other education professionals present in the school unit, since it was successful for the development of conceptual, procedural and attitudinal knowledge in accordance with the guidelines of the various documents that guide the conduct of educational processes In Brazilian teaching networks.
