Keywords in Portuguese
Linguagem contábil

Teoria da legitimidade

Abstract in English
The study explores how managers constructed and used the accounting language disclosed in documents and corporate communications during the judicial recovery process of Oi S.A. The objective of the research was to understand how the linguistic tools, narratives and accounting discourses, which permeate the corporate media, were designed in order to enable managers to achieve specific objectives during the judicial recovery of Oi S.A. Two distinct studies were carried out, one interpretive and the other critical, outlined in the form of articles, which had as method rhetorical analysis and Critical Discourse Analysis, respectively, and, in the first article, the analysis technique employed is close reading and, in the second, Fairclough's three-dimensional painting. The research exposed the accounting language being constructed and shaped in order to enable organizational actors to direct, mitigate and legitimize events, actions and situations. The results presented revealed the non-technical aspects of accounting language, warning about the uninformative and biased nature of corporate media that made it possible for managers to evade responsibility and divert users' attention regarding the misfortunes that occurred during the judicial recovery process.
