Abstract in English
Displacements as Poetics: Walking through Narratives proposes the investigation of displacements in contemporary art based on walking practices. Under a poetic perspective, using a miscellany of resources intrinsic to walking, the work seeks to relate the experience of the artist in moving through space with different narratives that address the theme. The first chapter relates the construction of myth and its importance to the development of narratives about walking, presenting stories and characters that have the path in common as a symbolic and philosophical context. Next, it is observed how walking came to be adopted as an aesthetic practice and artistic movement. The second chapter discusses, from a curatorial perspective, about works and artists who practice walking, and how these are associated with elements of walking, designated as allegories, such as: tracks and markings along the way; symbols: the circle and the spiral, representative of the human psyche as universal symbols and of man's relations with the landscape; and pilgrimages, crossings, processions, and wanderings, which seek the similarities between the experience of walking and the processes - including poetic ones - that involve pathways.
