Abstract in English
This study proposes to rethink Brasilia's early years, beyond the spectrum of the utopia of its urbanistic and architectural dimensions and state voluntarism. Therefore, we especially list the perspective of urban experiences, artistic practices and inventive educational projects, which are latent in a brief period of time, considering the experiences of a specific group of artists. At first, traces of memories, concepts and works of the Brasilia Group - as the artists Luiz Alphonsus (1948), Alfredo Fontes (1944-1991), Cildo Meireles (1948) and Guilherme Vaz (1948-2018) were known in Rio de Janeiro - allow us to map certain snapshots of effervescent experiences, linking two moments and spaces in our recent history: Brasília in the 1960s and Rio Janeiro in the 1970s. Throughout this journey, we encounter poetic images from other symbolic universes, such as the hinterland, suburbia and forest, inviting us to rearrange the pieces. We understand that the four artists, by different approaches and intensities, provide us with evidence of other testimonies, different visions of the urban, of art and of Brazil, and even, distinct kinds of utopia, especially arising from the poetics of shared experiences and alterities. Narrating our utopian experiences from a contemporary perspective obliges us to arrange them differently, using obliterated versions, coexistences, multiple narratives, ancestries, transversal relations and decentralized situations. All of them enunciate instances that such experiences are in frequent pulsation, reconfiguring the imaginary and ready to burst forth at any moment.
