The healing activity of propolis is historically described, but not yet experiments describing the healing activity of propolis samples and their fractions were conducted. Propolis is a resin collected by bees of the genus Apis sp. for several purposes. Phytogeographic factors influence the chemical composition of samples and various botanical species have been identified as a source of resin for the preparation of propolis by bees, among them we can mention the species B. dracunculifolia DC as botanical origin of propolis. As chemical constituents of such sample flavonoids, phenolic compounds, fatty acids, etc. have been reported. In the analysis of the sample taken by optical microscopy, plant fragments that prove the botanical origin of propolis were identified as B. dracunculifolia DC. The crude hydroethanolic extract was chemically fractionated using solvents of increasing polarity, thus obtaining three fractions: hexane, ethyl acetate and hydroethanol. The chromatographic profiles in thin-layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography were obtained and the chromatographic profiles showed that there was a satisfactory fractionation. The crude hydroethanolic extract and its fractions were subjected to quantification of total flavonoids, phenolic compounds, derivatives of p - coumaric acid, confirming the distribution of compounds in the different fractions at different concentrations. We also evaluated the antioxidant, antimicrobial and in vivo assays in rats, healing and quantification of neutrophils and cytokines (CINC , L- selectin , VEGF and TNF). The crude extract and the fractions until the concentration of 1mg/mL, showed no antimicrobial activity against the microorganisms tested. No statistically significant difference was observed between groups in the healing assay, there was also no statistical difference between the neutrophil count, but it was possible to delineate a trend of anti-inflammatory activity in hexane and hydroethanol fractions.
