Estudou-se no presente trabalho a susceptibilidade de camundongos das linhagens C57BL/6 e BALB/c à infecção por Cryptosporidium parvum, com o intuito de se estabelecer modelo animal para obtenção de massa de oocistos. Para isto os camundongos foram submetidos a procedimento de imunossupressão com o corticosteróide dexametasona em diferentes doses, peta via subcutânea e, após estabelecida a imunossupressão, infectados com 2x104 oocistos de C. parvum pela via intragástrica. Apenas os camundongos da linhagem C57BL/6, que foram imunossuprimidos com 0,5mg de dexametasona por animal, liberaram uma apreciável quantidade de oocistos nas fezes, sendo deste modo considerados como um modelo simples e prático para amplificação deste parasito.

BALB/c and C57BL/6N mice were evaluated for susceptibility to Cryptosporidium parvum infection with the purpose of establishing.an animal model for obtaining large amount of oocysts. For this, mice were imunossupressed by subcutaneous application, with different doses of the corticosteroid dexamethasone, and after establishment of the imunossupression, they were inoculated, by intra-gastric route, with 2x104 C. parvum oocysts. Only C57BL/6 mice, which were imunossupressed with 0,5 mg of dexamethasone released a substantial amount of oocysts in feces, showing that this can constitute a simple and feasible model for amplification of this parasite.
