Abstract in English
The alloys used in this research for die casting are Al-Si, as they have a low melting point, hardness, elongation and a high strength limit, between 200 and 300 MPa. The mentioned process applies a high speed of injection of the liquid metal, in the mold, obtaining a structure with refined grains and generating several defects such as microporosity, cold joint and filling failure, resulting in low mechanical properties of the product. These defects arise from the deficiency in the tooling design: injection mold, in the definition of the calculations and control of the injection parameters. The main objective of this dissertation is to analyze the influence of the speeds of the first and second injection stages on the microstructure and mechanical properties of specimens normalized in the A380 alloy to improve the quality of die-cast products. The development and analysis of the results of the mechanical properties of the A380 alloy were based on obtaining standardized specimens via a cold chamber injection molding machine. The adjustment parameters considered 03 different speed variations in the 1st phase: 0.10m/s, 0.25m/s and 0.50m/s and in the same way, for the 2nd phase: 0.6m/s, 1.5m/s 3.0m/s. The characterization of the mechanical properties was carried out through mechanical tensile and hardness tests. The analysis of the results was carried out through the microstructural characterization by optical microscopy for the variations of phase velocities. The preliminary results of the work allowed us to conclude that the injection speed does not influence the resistance limits, both in the 1st and 2nd phases. In addition, the level of porosities and discontinuities and therefore the sanity of the product change as a function of variations in speed, interfering with the results of elongation and yield strength of products cast under pressure.
