Abstract in English
In the manufacture of truck chassis frames, the predominant materials are HSLA (High Strength Low Alloy) steels, which require high cost stamping tools and production and operation complexity, to generate the components that will allow the formation of the chassis. The advantages of HSLA steels are the final part cost, strength and being well known in the truck industry. The present study aims to evaluate a new material in this application which is the 6082 Aluminum alloy by the extrusion process, which can reduce tooling costs as well as add a competitive advantage to the vehicle by providing greater payload capacity resulting in higher gain per vehicle operation.
