Abstract in English
The relevance of the work carried out by both Marcantonio Vilaça and Patricia Phelps de Cisneros in the dissemination and recognition of modern and contemporary Latin American arts is recognized, not only in Latin America itself, but also abroad. The two collectors played a profoundly important role in highlighting the existence of diverse latin-american artists as they projected, then, the young latin-american art in museums, art fairs and biennials around the globe. Throughout this study, we sought to recognize and compare the strategies used by Marcantonio and Patricia in the dissemination of their collections, more specifically focusing on a factor that guided them both: internationalization. In addition, an attempt was made to identify works and artists that were internationalized to art fairs, museums, galleries and biennials by both collectors. From these data, an analysis was carried out on the variation some marketing aspects related to these artists and works in the context of pre and post internationalization: i) variation in the prices of works before and after internationalization and ii) impacts generated on the visibility of the works and the artist.
