Este trabalho de investigação objetiva identificar o imaginário dos trabalhadores latino-americanos que exercem funções que exigem menor qualificação como as de porteiro, faxineiro, segurança em instituições de ensino superior em Argentina, Brasil, Colômbia e Cuba para compreender: (1) qual sua perspectiva sobre o processo de substituição do trabalho humano por máquinas e robôs de alta tecnologia, considerando-se o mundo da tecnologia 4.0, dominado pela inteligência artificial e pela computação cognitiva, vislumbrando ser o 'admirável mundo novo' uma quase-realidade no século XXI; (2) o sentido do trabalho para tais trabalhadores. Buscou-se registrar a polissemia, a multiplicidade de sentidos e a polifonia, as muitas vozes que compõem o tecido social, e tal propósito foi alcançado mediante a escuta ativa e a comunicação dialógica com os sujeitos da pesquisa, durante 2019-2022. Para realizar esta pesquisa, de natureza exploratória e abordagem qualitativa, optou-se pelo método de leitura cultural, possibilitando delimitar o contexto do problema e aprofundar seu diagnóstico, colher as vozes de protagonistas envolvidos diretamente com o fenômeno estudado, e adotou-se, como técnicas de pesquisa, entrevistas semiestruturadas e aplicação de questionários. A hipótese central foi a de que, apesar das dificuldades que se potencializam com a adoção da tecnologia 4.0 para muitas funções, os trabalhadores que exercem funções simples, como as de porteiro, segurança e limpeza, veem o trabalho que exercem de forma positiva, considerando-o como um formador de sua dignidade humana. As vozes desses 86 trabalhadores assim responderam à hipótese: sim, o trabalho é formador da dignidade humana, ele nos dá identidade, ele nos faz 'ser'. Mesmo que com distintas roupagens, o trabalho está invariavelmente associado ao ser humano e à sua emancipação, para a qual a educação formal se apresenta como principal 'elemento' para preparar o ser humano para o futuro e agir sobre o mundo como sujeito transformador. Contudo, para que ela se configure como principal elemento da emancipação humana, precisa ter uma mudança substancial com relação à forma de preparar que limita o ser humano a ser uma peça descartada no jogo do trabalho dominado pela tecnologia, trazendo uma formação para o 'mercado' de trabalho, quando necessita focar no 'mundo' do trabalho e na complexidade que o constitui. De forma consciente, embora sabedor das limitações constituintes de uma investigação complexa, construída nas ciências sociais, registro modestamente o que compreendo como sua importância: não é uma pesquisa voltada para si, é uma pesquisa construída polifonicamente e voltada para todos os que querem mudança para um conviver mais harmônico, menos desigual, mais humano. A dignidade é intransferível e é parte do ser humano - trazer a dignidade para a realidade da vida em sociedade é muito mais do que o exercício do direito, é o dever da humanidade enquanto reconhecida como um locus coletivo. É meu dever fazer parte dessa humanidade e lutar para, na expressão da pesquisa científica, gerar interesse, reflexão e movimento em busca desse mundo mais humano em que a dignidade do ser seja uma de suas maiores e mais bonitas expressões.

This research work aims to identify the imagination of Latin American workers who perform functions that require less qualification such as doorman, janitor, security in higher education institutions in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Cuba to understand: (1) what is their perspective on the process of replacing human work with high-tech machines and robots, considering the world of technology 4.0, dominated by artificial intelligence and cognitive computing, with the 'brave new world' becoming a quasi-reality in the 21st century; (2) the meaning of work for such workers. We sought to record polysemy, the multiplicity of meanings and polyphony, the many voices that make up the social fabric, and this purpose was achieved through active listening and dialogic communication with the research subjects, during 2019-2022. To conduct this research, of exploratory nature and qualitative approach, we opted for the cultural reading method, making it possible to delimit the context of the problem and deepen its diagnosis, collecting the voices of protagonists directly involved with the phenomenon studied, and adopted, as research techniques, semi-structured interviews, and application of questionnaires. The central hypothesis was that, despite the difficulties that are potentiated with the adoption of technology 4.0 for many functions, workers who perform simple functions, such as door attendant, security, and cleaning, see their work in a positive way, considering him as a trainer of his human dignity. The voices of these 86 workers responded to the hypothesis: yes, work forms human dignity, it gives us identity, it makes us 'be'. Even with different guises, work is invariably associated with human beings and their emancipation, for which formal education presents itself as the main 'element' to prepare human beings for the future and act on the world as a transforming subject. However, for it to be configured as the main element of human emancipation, it needs to have a substantial change in relation to the way of preparing that limits the human being to be a discarded piece in the game of work dominated by technology, bringing a formation to the 'market ' of work, when you need to focus on the 'world' of work and the complexity that constitutes it. Consciously, although aware of the limitations that constitute a complex investigation, constructed in the social sciences, I modestly register what I understand as its importance: it is not a research focused on itself, it is a research built polyphonically and aimed at all those who want change for their lives. a more harmonious, less unequal, more human coexistence. Dignity is non-transferable and part of being human - bringing dignity to the reality of life in society is much more than the exercise of the right, it is the duty of humanity as it is recognized as a collective locus. It is my duty to be part of this humanity and fight to, in the expression of scientific research, generate interest, reflection and movement in search of a more human world in which the dignity of being is one of its greatest and most beautiful expressions.
