Proletarian Internationalism, as a theoretical formulation and practical action, originated from the socialist revolutionary movement of the late 19th century, after the I International was constituted. It counted with the theoretical contributions of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and had its first practical trial in the experience of the Paris Commune, known as a "storm on the heavens." However, the 20th century was the fruitful century for the embodiment of Proletarian Internationalism. The Russian Revolution of 1917 altered the course of the history of Humanity, presenting the world with the first Socialist Revolution in History, to which Proletarian Internationalism was the leitmotiv for building Socialism at the international level. After the triumph of the Bolshevik Revolution, the III International, the Komintern, was created as a means to organize the proletariat of the world, leading to Communist Parties flourishing on different continents, and Marxism, as a scientific theory of communism, went beyond European borders, which made it possible for this theory to be interpreted from the different realities in the peripheral world, such as Latin América and Africa. In 1959, another Revolution triumphed, the Cuban Revolution, that was transcendental for Socialism in the world in a moment of the Cold War, where the main powers, the United States and Russia, were disputing hegemony between capitalism and socialism. Cuba represented the bastion of the Socialist Revolution in the Third World, and gave life to the practice of Proletarian Internationalism, becoming the main reference of solidarity for the peoples of Latin América, Africa, and Asia. The Cuban Revolution supported the National Liberation movements in different parts of the world and brought to the core of these movements the need for the emancipation of the people of the world from imperialism, Capitalism, and colonialism. Operation Carlota in Angola was the most significant international solidarity mission practiced by the Cuban Revolution. During 16 years, about half a million Cubans participated in the war that led to the definitive independence of Angola, Namibia, and the end of the racist regime of South African apartheid. Thus, Cuba nourished the struggle for the construction of the alternative hegemonic model to the Capitalist system, supported by the socialist bloc, and the struggle against U.S. imperialism reached a planetary dimension to which Proletarian Internationalism played a decisive role in its due historical moment.
