Este estudo de pacientes terminais teve como pergunta orientadora O que é isto, estar vivenciando a finitude próxima? Optei por uma trajetória que permitisse clarear a terminalidade como fenômeno. No percurso dessa trajetória vi-me diante da questão do Ser. A compreensão deste Ser segundo a ontologia fundamental de Heidegger norteou a interpretação dos encontros que mantive com os pacientes terminais, propiciando seu des-velamento enquanto Seres-aí vivenciando sua terminalidade, des-velando o morrendo

The present study on terminally ill patients was guided by the following question: What is it like to be experiencing that the end is near? I opted for a trajectory that would permit me to clarify terminality as a phenomenon. Along the course of this trajectory I was faced by the question of Being. The understanding of this Being based on Heidegge's fundamental ontology guided the interpretation of the contact I had with terminal patients, providing a revelation of them as "Beings who are there" and who are experiencing their terminality and thus revealing what dying is
