A escrita implica em uma materialização da subjetividade, seja por parte da escritora/autora ou por parte da tradutora/autora. Nesse sentido, as questões de gênero, centrais para a maneira como o indivíduo se vê na sociedade, se mostram um interessante ponto de discussão nos estudos da tradução. A Vegetariana (2007), romance sul-coreano escrito por Han Kang, foi traduzido para o inglês por Deborah Smith em 2015 e duas vezes para o português brasileiro, primeiramente por Yun Jung Im em 2013 e depois por Jae Hyung Woo em 2018. Esta dissertação tem como objetivo compreender como o feminino e seus discursos aparecem nas traduções, sendo estas entendidas como processos conjuntos de escrita, criadoras de significados e subjetividades. Para tal, após observar os contextos da literatura coreana em tradução, analisamos as traduções do ponto de vista da teoria da retradução, buscando compreender suas características gerais e de que maneira se relacionam. Na sequência, utilizamos teorias da tradução feminista para apreender de que maneira questões de gênero se materializam em tradução, e aplicamos essas ideias às traduções de A Vegetariana. Além disso, estudamos os temas literários presentes no romance, observando de que maneira esses temas variam em cada versão da obra. É possível afirmar que, dentre o texto coreano e as traduções pesquisadas, a retradução brasileira de Jae Hyung Woo é a que mais atenua temas literários ligados à opressão da mulher.

Writing implies a materialization of subjectivity, be it from the part of the writer/author or the translator/author. In that way, gender, which is central to how an individual sees her/himself in society, is an interesting discussion topic for translation studies. The Vegetarian (2007), a South Korean novel by Han Kang, was translated to English by Deborah Smith in 2015 and two times to Brazilian Portuguese, first by Yun Jung Im in 2013 and then by Jae Hyung Woo in 2018. The objective of this master's thesis is to understand how the feminine and its discourses appear in translation, considering translation as a joint process of writing, creator of meaning and subjectivities. In order to achieve that, after observing the contexts of Korean literature in translation, we analyse the translations from the point of view of retranslation theory, as a means to comprehend their general characteristics and in which manner they relate to each other. Thereafter, we use feminist translation theory to seize how gender issues are materialized in translation, and apply those ideas to the translations of The Vegetarian. Moreover, we study the literary themes in the novel, observing how they vary in each version of the work. It is possible to assert that, among the Korean text and the translations studied, the Brazilian retranslation by Jae Hyung Woo is the one that mitigates the most the literary themes related to women's oppression.
