Abstract in English
The dissertation Commented translation of Guy de Maupassant poet gives the reading of six poems by Guy de Maupassant (1850) translates them, and proposes to analyze three of them. These poems, the corpus of this work, are part of the collection Des vers (1880), the only collection of verse published by Maupassant. The author of "Boule de suif" (1880), known as a great short story writer and novelist of the second half of the 19th century, remains, nowadays, unknown to the Brazilian reading public as a poet. In this sense, the translating gesture of this work aims to shed light on this side of Maupassantian poetics. After all, it was through poetry that the writer began his literary career. The analyses developed are based on assumptions formed from the reading of translation theorists and thinkers, such as Álvaro Faleiros, Haroldo de Campos and Henri Meschonnic; and of versification, such as Jean-Michel Gouvard, Rogério Chociay and Manuel Said Ali. Such analyses, with respect to themes, draw parallels between the translated poems and other Maupassant texts, in order to approach Maupassantian poetics and in order to answer the question, "what was there of the mature short story writer, in the young Maupassant poet?"
