Presente no Brasil há mais de cinco séculos, a viola tem participação na vida cultural do povo brasileiro em todos os períodos. Após longa jornada em que foi alvo de preconceito, vinculada aos elementos que marcam rusticidade da vida do campo, também marginalizados, a partir da década de 2000, por meio de encontros de violeiros advindos de distintas gerações e estilos, os artistas inseridos nessa cena conseguiram se organizar, em ambientes marcados por reflexões culturais, gastronomia caipira e muita música. Após rica coleta de depoimentos dados por violeiros, produtores e agentes culturais, organizada em apêndice audiovisual, afirma-se, neste trabalho, que a viola caipira está à frente no que se refere à representação de uma cultura e que, organizada a cena dos violeiros, no espaço urbano, reata-se um elo entre a cultura urbana e a vida caipira, rompida no século XIX, num momento em que elementos da cultura européia passavam a influenciar a cena cultural urbana, em que ocorre a emergência do violão como instrumento de acompanhamento e que as irmandades híbridas, ligadas à viola, com suas práticas sincréticas, foram afastadas das igrejas católicas e "empurradas" para o campo. Este estudo mostra uma diversificada cena de violeiros do estado de São Paulo com positivas perspectivas para o futuro.

Present in Brazil for more than five centuries, the viola has participated in the cultural life of the Brazilian people in all periods. After a long journey in which he was the target of prejudice, linked to the elements that mark the rusticity of country life, also marginalized, from the 2000s, through meetings of viola"s players from different generations and styles, the artists inserted in this scene managed get organized, in environments marked by cultural reflections, country cuisine and lots of music. After a rich collection of testimonies given by viola"s players, producers and cultural agents, organized in an audiovisual appendix, it is stated, in this work, that the viola caipira is ahead in terms of the representation of a culture and that the scene of the viola"s players is organized, in the urban space, there is a link between urban culture and country life. This scene was broken in the 19th century, at a time when elements of European culture started to influence the urban cultural scene, in which the acoustic guitar emerges as an instrument of accompaniment and that the hybrid brotherhoods, linked to the viola, with their syncretic practices, were removed from Catholic churches and "pushed" into the countryside. This study shows a diverse scene of viola"s players in the state of São Paulo with positive perspectives for the future.
